R.I.P. Ecstasy of Whodini

Along with RUN-DMC and Jam Master Jay, Whodini was one of the top hip hop groups in the 1980’s. Their sound was unique and they had endless hits include ‘One Love’, ‘The Freaks Come Out At Night’, ‘Escape”, “Funky Beat’, ‘Friends’, and ‘Five Minutes of Funk’.

Today we heard from media sources that Ecstasy, John Fletcher, transitioned to be with the Ancestors. Ecstasy had a smooth sound and like the rest of Whodini, drove the women crazy with his unique fashion and sensual lyrics.

It is not clear what the cause of Ecstasy’s death is. He was 56 years old. His music and legacy will live forever. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jalil, Grandmaster D, their families and all fans.
